Professors Marco Ceccarelli and Matteo Russo presented papers on their achievements and research trends in robotics and artificial intelligence. Associate Professor Seidakhmet Askar Zhunisovich presented a paper on “Automation and Robotization of Production: The Case of Saryarkaavtoprom.” The seminar focused on automated mobile robot motion control for logistics operations at Saryarkaavtoprom’s automotive manufacturing facility, specifically, mobile robot navigation and indoor mapping. Optimal solutions were selected for the discussion. Foreign scientists are consultants for the project BR24992947 “Development of robots, scientific, technical and software support for flexible robotics and industrial automation (RPA) of automotive industry enterprises in Kazakhstan based on artificial intelligence.” Professors from Italy maintain quite close ties, both online and offline meetings.

The JIME hosted international scientists from the AGH University of Science and Technology (Krakow, Poland). The Polish scientists included Jacek Cieslik, Agnieszka Kopija, Łukasz Rauch, Krzysztof Muszka, Łukasz Rakodzi, and Piotr Migas. JIME Director General Z.G. Ualiev gave a general presentation on the institute’s activities and research areas. International scientists from Poland presented on nanomaterials, material coatings, metallurgical engineering, and other topics. The international scientists have extensive experience in materials science and metallurgy. Professor Jacek Cieslik is a leading expert in mechanics and robotics at the Department of Engineering Mechanics and Robotics. JIME has maintained close ties with the AGH University of Science and Technology for over ten years. The discussion focused on the development and possible further production of lighter, high-strength materials, which is essential for the assembly of automated and robotic systems installations.

A Kazakh delegation participated in the Pudzhian Innovation Forum 2025.

The Liaoning Sub-Forum, dedicated to digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and smart manufacturing, was held as part of the Pudong Innovation Forum 2025. A Kazakh delegation, represented by the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, leading universities, and research institutes, participated in the sub-forum.

The Pudong Innovation Forum, established by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China and the Shanghai Government, is a key international platform for discussing priorities for scientific and technological progress and cooperation in high-tech industries. The Liaoning sub-forum focused on practical solutions for industrial modernization, the development of smart manufacturing, and the expansion of bilateral partnerships—from pilot implementations to localization.

Academician A.K. Tuleshov also delivered a report at the plenary session of the Liaoning sub-forum, noting that the Kazakh delegation’s participation had become particularly relevant in light of the Address of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on September 8, 2025, emphasizing the country’s strategic focus on accelerated digital transformation, developing the AI ecosystem, and strengthening international scientific and technological cooperation. The Shenyang forum served as a confirmation of the priorities outlined at the highest level and a tool for their practical implementation—through joint projects, technology transfer, and the training of scientific and engineering personnel.

The delegation also included: Rector of the Rudny Industrial University N.P. Saparkhodzhaev; Chief Manager of the Department of Development and Business Administration of Semizbay-U LLP of the NAC KazAtomProm A. Altynbek; Director of the JIME Z.G. Ualiev; Director of the Department of Scientific and Innovative activities International engineeringM.Zh. Kuatov Technological University, as well as representatives of universities and research institutes. The U.A. Dzholdasbekov Institute of Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering and the Shenyang Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIA CAS) have been three years have been developing cooperation in robotics and intelligent production systems. The partnership includes joint research, academic exchanges, and personnel training. This resulted in the creation of the Kazakh-Chinese Center for Robotics and Intelligent Systems in Almaty—a platform for developing advanced technologies, testing, and scaling industrial solutions.

The delegation visited SiaSUN, China’s largest manufacturer of industrial robots. The parties confirmed their commitment to localizing assembly, maintenance, and an engineering center at the JIME in Almaty, focusing on the Kazakhstan and Central Asian markets. The agreements include developing a roadmap for collaborative and logistics robot lines, personnel training, and the creation of a demonstration and production facility to quickly adapt solutions to the needs of domestic companies.

A business meeting was held at the JIME with representatives of the National Association of Oilseed Processing (NAOP), Chairman of the Board Yadykar Ibragimov, and Executive Director Andrey Antonov. JIME CEO Z.G. Ualiev presented a general presentation on the institute’s activities and research areas. The meeting focused on the automation and robotization of oilseed processing facilities in Kazakhstan. Currently, 48 plants, members of the aforementioned association, are engaged in oilseed processing in Kazakhstan. In practice, most plants are only 30% automated. The issue of automating additional production lines is being considered. Representatives of the NAPMK Association of Legal Entities Further steps for the automation and robotization of production at one of the plants in Kazakhstan were verbally agreed upon.

IN JIME was organized business-meeting with General Director of Tech Ideas LLP Yarmakhamet Myrgyyasov. General JIME Director Z.G. Ualiev gave a general presentation on the institute’s activities and research areas. Tech Ideas LLC develops vibratory mills for rock crushing, conveyors for separating rocks into fractions, and manufactures fireclay refractory bricks. The CEO of Tech Ideas LLC outlined several issues requiring scientific attention and solutions. Solutions to these issues were discussed, with the subsequent involvement of JIME scientists. 6th International Student Olympiad in MECHANICS AND MECHANICAL SCIENCE. The event is organized by Satbayev University and JIME under the auspices of IFToMM. (Satbayev University)

Students from around the world gathered at Satbayev University for the 6th International Student Olympiad in Theory of Mechanisms, Machines, and Robot Mechanics (SIOMMS-2025), held under the auspices of the International Federation IFToMM and running until November 28. Opening the Olympiad, moderator Academician Amandyk Tuleshov emphasized that the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Nurbek Sayasat, supported SIOMMS-2025 by sending a congratulatory message to the students and all participants. The Olympiad program included competitive tasks on mechanisms and robotics, tours of Satbayev University’s research laboratories, and special lectures from leading IFToMM Kazakhstan experts. Over the two days, students not only demonstrated their knowledge but also learned about Kazakhstan’s first technical university and the latest advances in automation.

The event was organized by IFToMM Kazakhstan, Satbayev University, and the JIME, with the support of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Teams from China, Spain, Romania, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan participated in the Olympiad. Kazakhstan was represented by three universities: Satbayev University, Farabi University, South Kazakhstan State University, and the JIME.
