On May 12, 2026, the latest scientific and technical seminar was held at Joldasbekov Institute of Mechanics and Engineering as part of the Fundamental Research Program. Opening the seminar, moderator noted that the studies presented for discussion lie at the intersection of fundamental science and applied problems in mechanical engineering and civil engineering, and that their findings can be used in the design of reliable structures and mechanical components.

The first presentation was delivered by Professor, Candidate of Technical Sciences Iskakov Zharilkasin, who presented the results of his research on the topic: “Dynamic Modeling of Rotor Systems with Bearing Support Assemblies Incorporating Geometric Damping Nonlinearity.” In his presentation, the speaker focused on the development of refined mathematical models that account for the nonlinear characteristics of damping elements. Of particular interest to the audience were the preliminary results of numerical simulations, which identified the conditions governing the damping behavior of the elastic support material.

The second presentation was delivered by Professor K. Bisembayev, Doctor of Technical Sciences, on the topic: “Mathematical Models of Rolling Friction and Free Vibrations of a Rigid Body on Rolling Supports with Flattened Surfaces Considering Rolling Friction on a Viscoelastic Foundation.” Professor Bisembayev presented the theoretical aspects of the free vibrations of a rigid body supported by rolling elements with flattened surfaces, taking rolling friction into account. Analytical solutions were introduced for determining the initial vibration amplitudes of the system, which govern the vibration behavior of the rigid body. Seminar participants emphasized the significance of this approach, as it enables a more accurate description of body motion under complex loading conditions, making it highly relevant to transportation and civil engineering applications.

Each presentation was followed by a lively discussion. Seminar participants exchanged views on the prospects for further research, the potential for collaborative use of the developed mathematical models, and opportunities for their validation through experimental testing. The discussions highlighted the importance of integrating theoretical developments with experimental verification to enhance the reliability and practical applicability of the proposed models.
