From April 3 to April 7, 2026, a large-scale scientific event, the First Congress of Mathematicians of Kazakhstan, was held in Shymkent city on the basis of the M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University. The congress was attended by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, the President of the Mathematical Society of the Turkic World and the Kazakh Mathematical Society Academician Bakytzhan Zhumagulov, as well as leading Kazakhstan and foreign scientists in the field of mathematics, mechanics and information technology.
The key objective of the Congress was to develop strategic directions for the development of Kazakhstani science, as well as strengthening cooperation in the field of mechanics, IT and AI.
Within the framework of the Congress, JIME organized an international scientific conference “Fundamental Problems of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics”.
Moderators of plenary sessions of the Conference were Academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan A.K. Tuleshov and B.B. Teltaev, of breakout sessions – Professor A.A. Jomartov and Professor A.J. Seydakhmet.

In total, more than 50 scientists made presentations, including representatives of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia after Patrice Lumumba, Samarkand and Tashkent State Universities, National University of Uzbekistan, Astana IT University, Satbayev University, al-Farabi Kazakh National University, etc.
One of the most important events of the Congress was medal event. The President of the World Turkic Mathematical Society and the Kazakhstan Mathematical Society, Academician Bakytzhan Zhumagulov, awarded the staff of JIME Academician of NAS of RK A.K. Tuleshov and Professor A.A. Jomartov with the medal of the World Turkic Mathematical Society “For contribution to the development of mathematical science” for significant achievements in the field of mathematics.
The conference has become an effective platform for discussing modern scientific achievements in the field of mechanics, exchanging experience and developing international relations.
